SPY and QQQ gap up again! Ideas to profit for Wed Dec 4, 2024
Are you planning trades that pay as much as 5 to 20 times your risk? ! If not, Join THT to improve your trading.
Good morning traders!
Yesterday played out close to as expected on SPY! I said I wanted a dip to 602.50 on SPY and we double bottom exactly there. SPY later dipped to vwap / 603.20 level and bounced to confirm strength. Target 605+
Unfortunately we didn’t get to 605 to get the 10 bagger. BUT we did plan and secure profits in 2 ways.
Credit Sell via Bull Puts anticipating SPX will close at least above 640. $2500 credit using $5000 capital. max draw down $250 (didn’t go more than $250 against us)
Directional Calls. We also great SPX 6050c for $1 goal was 6062 but we got enough of a push to follow the plan from Edge Trade Planner. out 80% from 1→3.60 for 260% gain. and stopped flat on the rest.
So if you had 10k in capital and risk $500/trade. you could do 2 credit sells. requiring $1000 in capital. Then you could do $5 of the 6050c for $1. do or die.
Edge trade planner suggest 2.60 ad 3.60 for sells lets keep it simple and say 3. so. here is the result. 2 trades. Credit Sell Profit = $500, and 6050 calls. = $1000.
So total capital at risk was $1000 and you netted $1500. given that I have 85% win rate on credit sells. I would almost say the risk was near 0 to make $1500 on 10k. how? the $500 profit from the credit sell payed for the $500 bet on the 6050 calls!
As a trader I’m always looking to improve and adapt. The current market has been gapping up regularly overnight. This makes it hard for directional option traders at times. So I have 3 ways to play this behaviour… 1. swing options, 2. trade futures, 3. credit sell regularly.
One of my goals, and if you are reading this is that you don’t want to spend all day trading.
So let’s talk about them:
Swing Options - overnight holds imho tend to be expensive and I don’t like the risk to carry overnight usually. I like it when I see the potenially for a gap and go and maybe 5+ points by the next day. I don’ like it for 1 to 2 points.
Futures - I like these, as fire and forget where i place orders hoping for mid day or overnight dips with wide stops and then just hold for the grind. This is great because of leverage, but it still opens you up to overnight risk
Credit Sells - This has become my favorite somewhat stress free way to profit daily.
If you’d like to learn more comment below and i’ll setup time to do a webinar/group chat.
….
Let’s get into it!
Tuesday Price Action
Overall market is in full blow breakout rally mode imho.
SPY - consolidated for the morning and then started a slow grind higher. It double bottomed at 602.50 and then ran to 604s.
TSLA - flushed and found support on the 348.50 level. (its consolidating before next leg up)
SMCI - ripped to 46 double top on premarket high. I totally botched this. it was a perfect 2 level gap up reversal setup but I was so focused on it going to 50, I missed the obvious profit taking trade. This is why I’m building my playbook scanner and automation. I want automation to remind what to do so my bias doesn’t override obvious trades. had big wins on upside and gave back half going for a dumb trade/big win with too much size.
MSTR - pushes to 390s and then flushed back to 370. btc may need to break 90k for this to dump under 330.
SHOP - continued to consolidate
META - monster rally yesterday
COST - new all time high, dipped, filled gap tests 972 and now back on the grind higher
NVDA - I saw over $8m in weekly $140 calls getting bought so we joined it.
Wednesday Premarket Action
SPY - gapping up to new all time highs.
QQQ - gapping up to 620! new all time highs
TSLA - gapping up to 354.
NVDA - gapping up to $142+
Let’s review the trade signals in SPY and go over ideas for today.

Trade Recap for Tuesday Dec 03
GOLD BOLD ITALIC = price action signal
WHITE REGULAR = action to take/taken
GREEN REGULAR = trades I should have taken
SPY / SPX
Prefect read for the dips and the upside and choosing bull puts for headache free trade.
Lately I devote more of my energy to last 2 hours of the day for SPX trades. Why? better use of capital and consistent 200-500% gains in current environment.
If you are busy and want to see my commentary and ideas in real time consider joining THT-PRO.
Education - How to Join a Strong Trend
The process I typically follow for joining a strong trend are as follows:
All day grinder: join on dips to 20ma
Multi-day grinder:
Join either on support test of morning lows/failed breakdown reversal
Join at vwap mid day or end of day
Keep it simple. Don’t chase, wait for support levels for great risk/reward entries!
Education - Systematic Profit Taking
How do I take profits? I keep it relatively simple. Depending on the entry and range to the next levels I typically with take profits 50-100% of my profits at 3-10R and then raise stops to above entry with a goal of letting runners take me to the next level or 2 and to then reload if I believe we are consolidating before the next leg.
I then repeat the same process on the reload.
Let me know in the comments if you have questions or would like to see examples, I’ll share them.
Trade Ideas - Plan for Wed Dec 4
Stick to process. The process and trade setups I teach works. Rinse and repeat over and over again. There will be losses. Any good system will have them. Being systematic also means the gains will repeat and come again too. If you keep changing your system/process trying in an effort to never lose a trade, you will never get to where you want to go.
Ideas
Since we are gapping to all time highs I’m more cautious. if dips hold and we clear highs, could see gap and go, but I will be watching for any profit taking that comes in.
