QQQs make new high! Is a breakout coming? Trade ideas for Tuesday Dec 3, 2024
Are you planning trades that pay as much as 5 to 20 times your risk? ! If not, Join THT to improve your trading.
Good morning traders!
With QQQs at new highs will tech continue its rally? Is it time to worry about a pullback. I hate buying at highs, but that is because I’ve come to realize and accept my fear driven mentality that gives way to hope. Recognizing that fear and hope drive opportunity is where I get my edge.
Do I want to buy at highs? No, will I? It depends, ideally there needs to be a failed break down that recently happened first and then volume to clear the high, a back test, and then continuation.
Basically, It’s following process. I don’t buy at highs, unless I see clear volume and all dips getting bought AND i can project how far it will go and give a good risk/reward.
Now that I have credit selling in my arsenal, I can also use that where I don’t have to bet it will reach x by y time to make a profit. I can simply say, it will close above or below this level today and I keep the gains if right. How often am I right, well 8/9 of the last credit sell trades I alerted in THT PRO were winners!
So my thoughts for today are the same as usual for SPY and QQQs. Market is indicating it wants higher, we need to find good risk/reward entries, however will always be prepared for failed moves EVERY time we are at new highs for a possible short. Because of our process, IT DOES NOT MATTER which way it goes, as long as market action falls into one my patterns.
Let’s get into it!
Monday Price Action
SPY - dipped 602.50 held, and pushed toward 604.32 missing my 604.80 target by 0.50. Overall 603.50 turned into major support with firm buyers.
TSLA - nice gap up and rip into 359 for use to secure some profits from our $2 swing buy at 5-5.50!
SMCI - Dipped into 36 and gave a failed break down reversal there then, cleared premarket highs to run in 44. Overall imho, shorts can be in trouble. As long as 42 holds, 48-50 can come this week and maybe 55-60.
MSTR - pushes continue to get sold. imho it looks like it wants lower before it goes over 420 again.
SHOP - immediately sold off on open and then based on 110s all day.
Tuesday Premarket Action
SPY - gapping up again testing yesterday’s highs. Overall its consolidating and I believe is preparing for a push toward 610.
SMCI - gapping up pushed on 46, tested 42 and now testing 45!
TSLA - gapping down, bulls need to clear 360 quickly to avoid consolidation and gap fill down to 344.
Let’s review the trade signals in SPY and go over ideas for today.

Trade Recap for Monday Dec 02
GOLD BOLD ITALIC = price action signal
WHITE REGULAR = action to take/taken
GREEN REGULAR = trades I should have taken
SPY / SPX
Lately I devote more of my energy to last 2 hours of the day for SPX trades. Why? better use of capital and consistent 200-500% gains in current environment.
SMCI
I alerted commons long at 38 and 36 for 42+
I also took a short via puts on 36.50 break that quickly got stopped out and I flipped long on calls on 40, 45, and 50c
We got nice payouts from 100-500% into that 44 spike.
The SUPER fascinating observation was that yesterday as SMCI broker 42 and was making new lows, the 45 and 50c were not dipping. That shows demand!

Education - How to Join a Strong Trend
The process I typically follow for joining a strong trend are as follows:
All day grinder: join on dips to 20ma
Multi-day grinder:
Join either on support test of morning lows/failed breakdown reversal
Join at vwap mid day or end of day
Keep it simple. Don’t chase, wait for support levels for great risk/reward entries!
Education - Systematic Profit Taking
How do I take profits? I keep it relatively simple. Depending on the entry and range to the next levels I typically with take profits 50-100% of my profits at 3-10R and then raise stops to above entry with a goal of letting runners take me to the next level or 2 and to then reload if I believe we are consolidating before the next leg.
I then repeat the same process on the reload.
Let me know in the comments if you have questions or would like to see examples, I’ll share them.
Trade Ideas - Plan for Tuesday Dec 3
Stick to process. The process and trade setups I teach works. Rinse and repeat over and over again. There will be losses. Any good system will have them. Being systematic also means the gains will repeat and come again too. If you keep changing your system/process trying in an effort to never lose a trade, you will never get to where you want to go.
Ideas
Since we are at all time highs I’m more cautious. I prefer to look at laggard to scoop long. That said, I’ve got my processed honed in and many trades for a 100% gain trades are just not that appetizing to me anymore. I do it to hone and maintain skill, but SPX is where the heart is.
